💡 Quick Tips for Using TEXT Function

  1. Output is Always Text: When you use TEXT(), the output is converted into text string! You cannot use standard =SUM() or mathematical formulas directly on this output cell unless you convert it back.
  2. Leading Zeros for ID Codes: Use "0000" to make fixed digit numbers (e.g., =TEXT(7, "0000") gives "0007" for employee IDs or product codes).
  3. Format Day of Week & Month Name Easily:
    • "ddd" = Mon
    • "dddd" = Monday
    • "mmm" = Sep
    • "mmmm" = September
  4. Always Use Double Quotes: The format_text parameter MUST be inside double quotation marks like "#,##0". If you forget quotes, Excel will show error.
