How to Sort Data (Text, Number) in Excel (Video in Khmer)

Hello everyone! Today I show you very easy step-by-step how to sort data (text, number) in Excel from A to Z, Z to A, or smallest to largest number. If you have many list of staff name, price, or score and want to arrange them clean and fast, this tutorial help you very much!

🛠️ Method 1: Sort Text Data (A to Z or Z to A)

When you have list of names or products and want to arrange alphabetical order:

1. Click on any cell inside the column you want to sort (example: Name column A2).
2. Go to Data tab on top ribbon.
3. Click Sort A to Z (or Z to A button).
4. Excel will sort all your list automatically and keep all row data together!

⚠️ Important Tip: Do NOT select only one column before clicking sort, or Excel might mix up your data rows! Just click one cell inside column and click Sort.

🛠️ Method 2: Sort Number Data (Smallest to Largest / Largest to Smallest)

If you have salary, score, or total price:

1. Select one cell in number column (example: Salary column B2).
2. Go to Data tab -> click Sort Smallest to Largest (A -> Z icon) or Largest to Smallest (Z -> A icon).
3. If you want to see who get highest score or biggest salary on top, choose Largest to Smallest!

💡 Easy Pro Tips for Sorting Data

1. Use Shortcut Key:
   • Press Alt + A + S + A to sort A to Z quickly!
   • Press Alt + A + S + D to sort Z to A quickly!
2. Filter & Sort Together:
   • Press Ctrl + Shift + L to turn on Filter dropdown arrows on top row. You can click arrow on any column header to sort A-Z or Z-A fast!
3. Fix Numbers Stored as Text:
   • If number not sorting correctly, check if there is green triangle warning on cell. Select cells -> click warning icon -> choose Convert to Number.
