Hello everyone! In this video tutorial, you will learn how to copy an entire worksheet from one Excel file to another Excel workbook step-by-step.
Usually, many people select the entire sheet (Ctrl + A), copy (Ctrl + C), and paste (Ctrl + V) into a new file. However, we do not recommend this method because it loses column widths, row heights, page setup settings, and can break formula references when you have a lot of data!

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide
Method 1: Use the "Move or Copy" Feature (Recommended)
- Open both the source Excel file and the target Excel file.
- Right-click on the sheet tab at the bottom that you want to copy.
- Select Move or Copy... from the context menu.
- In the To book drop-down menu, choose the destination Excel file.
- Select where to place the sheet under the Before sheet list.
- ✅ Important: Make sure to check the Create a copy box (otherwise Excel will move the sheet instead of duplicating it!).
- Click OK.
Method 2: Fast Drag-and-Drop Shortcut
- Open both Excel files and arrange them side-by-side on your screen.
- Press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard.
- Click and drag the Sheet Tab from the source file to the destination workbook window.

💡 Pro Tips
- Preserve Formatting & Print Setup: Using Move or Copy... keeps all original column widths, row heights, print settings, and chart formatting 100% intact without manual adjustments.
- Copy Multiple Sheets at Once: Hold Ctrl (to pick specific sheets) or Shift (for a range of sheets) to select multiple sheet tabs at the same time, then right-click to copy them all together.
- Duplicate Sheet in the Same File: Hold Ctrl and drag any sheet tab left or right to quickly make a duplicate copy inside the current workbook.
